The Young Investor: Projects and Activities for Making Your Money Grow, Chicago Review Press, 2001.

In 2001, I published The Young Investor to help my grandchildren—ages 10 to 15 at the time—understand the language of business and investing.

Having moved from the academic world to the world of business, of debt markets, and of economic forecasts in my early forties, I knew what it was like to start fresh, to learn a new language. I did not want my grandchildren or their "tween" peers to be perplexed by terms like "the Fed" or "leading indicators," like I had been. Plus, I wanted my grandchildren to know that even pennies saved could grow over time through the power of compounding.
